Tho steamer Kiwi, Capt, James Campbell, took in a quantity of grass seed and other cargo yesterday afternoon, and at o.i-3 p.m. took her departure for AVellington aud the coast. The Union Company's steamer Taiaroa, Captain Handsby, arrived in the roadstead from Northern ports at G o'clock this mornin, o- and was shortly afterwards tendered for passengers and cargo. The foUoAviug is a report of her passage, kindly furnished by Mr Scott, her purser:—Left Auckland at 8 a.m. on the ISth; rounded the East Cape at 10.30 a.m. on the 19th, and arrived at Gisborne at G p.m. on Saturday; left at 8 p.m., ancl arrived here as given above. Experienced strong southerly winds and heaA-y head seas to arrival at Gisborne, afterwards fine Avcather.

The launch took the outward mails off at a few minutes after ten o'clock this morning, the Taiaroa getting away for the South atll.-O a.m.

The steamer Maori, Captain Auderson, returned from Mohaka at -5 o'clock last evening, bringing several passengers and a cargo consisting of lo bales and 50 quarter-bales of wool. She is to get aAvay for AVairoa at 0 o'clock (o-morrow morning.

The Union Company's s.s. Southern Cross, Captain Allman, is to leave AVellington at 8 o'clock to-night for Northern ports, and will probably arrive here during AVednesday night. She is to discharge her cargo inside, and at -1 o'clock on Thursday afternoon is announced to lea re for Gisborne and Auckland.

The p.s. Manaia, Capt. Baxter, is to leave for AVairoa at 9 o'clock to-morrow morning, taking passengers and cargo. The steamer Fairy, Capt. John Campbell, londed up this morning Avith timber, wire, grass seed, and stores for Tologa Bay, and Avas expected to get invay at about 2 o'clock this afternoon. She will be calling at Poverty Bay on her way back.

The launch Booium is announced to leave for Wairoa at !> o'clock to-morrow morning.

The Ncav Zealand Shipping Company's barque Norman MeLeod, Captain Scouller, Avhich left this port on the 3rd December, is cabled as having arrived at London on the

loth instant thus making the run in 102 da vs.

ARRIVAL OF THE BRITISH KING AT AVELLINGTON.

AVellington, This day

The steamer British King arrived from London at 10.30 o'clock last night. She is commanded by Captain John Kelly. The passage Avith the- exception of crossing the Bay of Biscay, was very fine. The time occupied on the voyage from Plymouth to AVellington Avas 'if>i days. She brings cloven saloon passengers, seven secondclass, ::ud 107 steerage, a number of Avlumi are destined for Canterbury. The British King will leave for Lyttelton towards the end of the Aveek.

H.M.S. Espeiglc sailed for Sydney yesterday afternoon. She will lie followed by the Diamond in throe or four days.
