This day
An inquiry was held here yesterday, before Messrs Simpson and Logan, J.P.s, into the collision between the Omapere and Mahiiiapua, which took place in Lyttelton recently.
The immigrants who arrived by the Wellington are nearly all of the nominated class. Only seven single girls are open forengage-
uient in Dunodin, the majority going to Oainaru and Invcrcargill. At a meeting of the Duuediu shareholders of the Titanic Steel and Iron Company last
night it was resolved not to liquidate at once, but to re-introduce into Parliament the bill for the grant of £5000 acres next session, unci it wa« decided that a deputation should wait on Major Atkinson about it. A committee was appointed to bring the matter under the notice of members of Parliament.
