February 27. The British Government has demanded the extradition from the United States of Sheridan, the alleged negotiator of the Kihnainham "treaty," who lias been implicated in the Phoenix Park murders l)y the evidence of the informer Carey. It is understood that he is still in New York. In the House of Commons yesterday the Marquis of Hartington, in the absence of the Premier, was requested to name a day for the discussion of Sir Stafford Northcote's proposed motion for the appointment of a select committee to examine into the circumstances connected with the alleged Kihnainham "treaty" which led to the release of Mr Parnell and his associates. Lord Hartington, in reply, refused to fix any date for the discussion of the motion. Later. Intelligence is to hand from New York that, in compliance with the demand of the British Government, a warrant has been issued by the American authorities for the arrest of Sheridan, who is alleged to be implicated in the operations of the Assassins' Committee in Ireland. A telegram has been received from Cannes stating that Mr Gladstone has left that place on his return to London. The debate on the Address in Reply was resumed in the House of Commons to-day, when Mr Parnell proposed an amend "nent in which he denounced the tyrannical exercise of power conveyed to the Executive by the Irish Crimes Prevention Act. After a debate the amendment was rejected by 132 to 15.
