WELLINGTON.
This day. His Excellency Sir AVilliam Jervois, after carefully considering Longhurst's case, has decided'that he can see no reason for interfering with the sentence which was passed on tho prisoner. Tho property-tax for the financial year amounts to about ..100,000. To-morrow is the last day upon which the tax can be paid without the addition of the ten percent, penalty.
