LONDON WOOL MARKET REPORT.

Messrs Murray. Roberts and Co. have received the following- report on the above market from their London agents, Messrs Sanderson, Murray and Co., under date December Ist:--

A few weeks before the present series began there was a considerable enquiry for wool, and every appearance of a firmer market. These expectations, however, melted away ten days or a fortnight before the opening night, as both from France and from Bradford worse accounts of trade were received. Although the room was well filled with buyers when the first catalogue was submitted, it soon became evident that the Tumours of worse trade were not unfounded, aud (hat sellers would have to accept lower prices. AY . quote coarse crossbreds about Id and other descriptions about -. 1 lower than the closing rates in October, with, however, many instances of irregularity, for occasionally the fall appeal's to be much greater than this, and frequently the same prices are realised now as then. The large quantity of faulty inferior scoured wool, most]}' in small lots, is very difficult to move off, and for these competition is extremely languid. Really good wool, on the other hand, sells fairly well, but of course {he proportion of it is very small. New Zealand scoured wool also sells comparatively well, owing to its freedom from seeds and faults. Several parcels of the new clip have been sold at about the prices riding a year ago, considering- the somewhat lean appearance and tender staple, and the bulk of what was offered bears abundant, evidence of the severe season that has visited (lie Northern district at any rate. The total available for the series is 130,000 bales. Up to date 80,51S bales have been catalogued, of which about 9500 bales have been bought in.
