DEPARTURES,

January. 25—Southern Cross, s.s.,'- for Gisborne, Hick's Bay, and Auckland.

The Union Company's steamer Southern Cross took her departure for Gisborne, Hick's Bay, and Auckland yesterday afternoon, having--on board a considerable amount of cargo for the above ports. . The steamer Go-Ahead, Capt. Doile, is telegraphed as having left Castle Point at 10.30 a.m. this day, and will arrive here during the night. Slie will be berthed inside early ; to-morrow morning, and after discharging her cargo is to leave for Wellington again at 4 o'clock to-morrow afternoon. . • • The Union Company's steamer Manapouri, Captain Logan, left Auckland for Southern ports at noon yesterday, with 40 tons of cargo on board for here. She is due by daylight to-morrow morning, and will be sailing for Southern ports and Melbourne at 11.30 a.m. The s.s. Maori returned to port yesterday morning, finding the sea too heavy on ths coast to go on to Porangahau. She will be leaving'again to-morrow. The p.s. Manaia, Captain Botham, is to leave for "Wairoa at 12 o'clock to-night, tiikiuy passengers and cargo. The Union Company's s.s. Tc Anau is expected to leave Wellington at about o o'clock to-night for Northern ports, and should therefore arrive here to-morrow forenoon. Should the wind not be favorable for the barque Coromandel to sail for London tomorrow morning, she will be towed clear of the roadstead by the Union Company's s.s. Manapouri. The steamer Kiwi is to leave Wellington this afternoon for Napier and coastal stations, and will arrive here on Monday morning. The "Union Company's s.s. Taiaroa, from Dunedin, Timaru, Lyttelton, and Wellington, is expected here next Wednesday, and .will be sailing for Gisborne, Tauranga, and Auckland, during the day. The same Company's steamer Omapcrc may also be expected to arrive here from the above ports on the following Monday. We learn that the Union Company's new steamer Tarawera arrived at Melbourne yesterday from home, and will thus be able to keep her time-table date for the excursion to the Sounds, leaving Port Chalmers about the 10th of February next.
