Having delivered up all arms and accoutrements, or other property, and paid any dues in AA-hich they maj- be indebted to the Company, such discharge will at once be granted. Should the company on the 31st instant not munber forty-three rank and file, including recruits all duly savoiti in under the neAV Regulations, it Avill be disbanded, thus loosing (even should it be re-organised the day after) its seniority among the corps of Ncav Zealand. AVith a A-icAV to avoiding this, and if possible saving the corp's precedence, the officers individually and collectively place their commissions in the hands of the company as newly constituted, and cither or nil of them aaIU at once resign if requested by the vote of three-fourths of those members and proposing members who may by the 25th instant have signified their Avillingness to re-enrol or enrol, such request to be simply conveyed by Avord of mouth through the senior non-comniissioucd officer to the officer commanding the company on or before that he has paid all money due by him under these Regulations or the rules of the corps ; and provided further that the capitation alloAvancc for such A r oluutoer shall be paid to the corps in AA-hich he may be serving at the termination of the A'olunteer year. 70. A A r oluntccr Avill not be alloAved to resign until after a year's service except on account of ill-health or departure from the colony. Should a Volunteer, after enrolment, determine to reside in another part of the colony, he may be transferred to a corps of the same arm, should one exist in the district to AA-hich he may proceed, or may obtain his discharge as proA'ided in paragraph 71. 71. If a A'olunteer Avishes to quit the Force, he may, on shoAving sufficient cause, be permitted to do so either Avithout payment or on payment of such sum as the Minister, on the recommendation of the Officer Commanding the Corps, shall fix. All sums so paid shall be credited to the funds of the corps the discharged man served in. 72. No A'olunteer AA'ho is permitted to quit the force Avill receive his discharge until he has given up in good order, fair wear and tear oidy excepted, all articles of Government property issued to him. 73. The Commanding Officer of a corps is to give to any Volunteer a\lio voluntarily quits it, and avlio has complied with the conditions contained in paragraph 72, a certificate. This certificate is to be presented to the Officer in Command of the District, aa-lio -will furnish such A r olunteer, if requested to do so, Avith a discharge certificate. 75. AVhen a Volunteer, temporarily absent from his district, attends the drills of another corps, the Officer Commanding that corps, or officer of permanent staff, Avill furnish him Avith a certificate of the drills he has attended. 94. Recruits on enrolment in Garrison or Head-Quarter corps, who have not previously received a military training, aaIU be formed into squads irrespective of the corps for AA-hich they enrolled, and Avill have to attend at least thirty hours' drill (exclusive of target and judging-distance practice) before being permitted to join the ranks. 95. AVhen reported proficient in their drills they will be passed by an officer of the permanent staff, and will then be entitled to receive a. certificate of efficiency, which Avill carry AA-ith it capitation for the A'olunteer year in Avhich they enrolled, provided that the period under instruction has not exceeded six mnuths. 96. A free issue of a serge suit Avill be made to those recruits. 97. Men Avishing to join a corps Avho have served in any regular force or undergone a military training Avill be permitted to enrol at any time during the Volunteer year, provided* they pass in drill to the satisfaction of the Officer Commanding the District, or officer of the permanent start'; but these men will not be entitled to capitation grant for the year in which they Avere enrolled, unless they have attended the required munber of GoA-ernment parades. 112. The Officer Commanding the District may order such other parades as he may consider necessary, but not more than three parades in any one mouth Avill be alloAved to count for capitation. 119. No parade, at AA-hich less than tAvothirds of the strength of a corps is present, is at any time to be credited to a corps as an inspection or Government parade towards capitation or efficiency. 135. A capitation alloAvancc of £2 10s per anniun Avill be granted to "efficient " members of Garrison and Head-Quarter corps. A member to be deemed an "efficient" Volunteer must have, during the year, (a) Attended tweh-e Government parades or drills, four of Avhich must haA'C been by daylight, and each of such parades or drills not less than two hours' duration, one of Avhich must have been exclusively devoted to drill ; (b) Fired in the first and second periods target practice; (c) Gone through first and second periods of judging-distance practice. 138. No parade or drill is to bo reckoned toAvards capitation if less than tAvo-thirds of the strength of the respective corps are present under instruction. 22G. Any member of a Arolunteer corps, Avho by reason of repeated absence from parade'drills is returned as a, "non-efficient for any A'olunteer year, shall, iv addition to any fines inflicted for such absence, be fined a further sum equal to the amount of capitation he could haA-e earned, and Avhich amount is to be paid in to the credit of the funds of the corps he is soi-A-ing in. 227. Officers Commanding corps Avill, on the last day of each quarter, furnish to officers in command of districts a return of all fines inflicted, recovered, or remitted during the quarter. ■__S. In the event of there being any outstanding fines, the Officer Conunanding the District will, after due inquiry, cause them to be remitted, or direct proceedings to be taken, as the case may be, by the Officer in Command of the corps for the recovory of the same. 229. Officers. Commanding Districts arc strictly enjoined to sec that this return is rcguhtrly furnished, and that all fines not remitted and unpaid are, in justice to other members of the corps, duly recovered. 255. Tunic: Scarlet, Imperial pattern ; facings : dark blue, piped AA-ith Avhite cord ; eight Avhite-mctal buttons (of approved pattern) doAvn front ; tAvo buttons on waist at back, and one small button on each shoulder for strap. The initials of corps to be Avorked in Avhite Avorstcd on shoulder straps. Trousers: Black cloth, Avith scarlet welt, quarter of an inch Aviclc, doAvn each side seam. Helmet: Imperial pattern, Avith Avhite-inetal mountings of approved pattern. Sealed patterns lodged in tho Defence Office. 2G5. Any member of tho A'olunteer Force absent from any Government parade or duty Avhich he has been ordered to attend, unless Avith the permission of his Commanding Officer, or unless Ids absence shall have been accounted for by medical certificate, shall be fined a sum not less than 5s or exceeding £3. 266," Any member of the Volunteer Force Avho shall be absent from three consecutive parades, Avithout the permission of lus Commanding Officer, or Avithout haA-ing forwarded a medical certificate of ill health, shall be liable to a fine not less than £1 or exceeding £3. 270. Any A r oluntecr Avho shall appear drunk on parade, or on any military duty, shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding £5; and, if a non-commissioned officer, shall, in addition to such fine, be reduced to the ranks ; and, if an officer, shall, in addition to such fine, be deprived of his commission. Joining members are requested to do so at once, in order that measurement may be taken for the hcav uniform to be transmitted by next outgoing mail.
