INVERCARGILL.
This day. The body of a man named John Dale was found in the Mataura river yesterday. The deceased, who had been drinking for some time, was in receipt of remittances from home. The body bore marks of violence, which the doctor thinks were inflicted before death. The first wool sales of the season were held yesterday, when nearly all the lots offered were sold.
