Block XUL, Pohui DiM.ri.-t, are c.hieny forest with a few clearings. The timber consists of Rimu, Mutui. and a little "White Pine. The formation of the μ-ruund is undulating and well watered, the soil inclined to be liirht. Sections 1, 2, 3. 1, .">, 11, and 12 of Block 11.. Patoka, ];,, and Hi of Block All!., and 8 of Block K>, Pohui Districts, are open hilly fern land, with a little bush on Suctions 1 !. 12. K>, and 8. Sections 1 and 2, Block VI., I'atoka, open fern land, hilly, soil light, overlying limestone formation, a small quantity of bush on each. Access is μ-ixen by roads which have been partly formed, about 2.', miles through the bush being cleared of timber. The Huwko's Bay County Council lias in course ol' construction a line of road M'ivinn' access to these lands from the inland I';itea. ro;ul. a distance of sixmiles. Section 2 lias a small frontage to theTaupo-road, and is bounded on one side by the Mohalai liver. Sections 3 and -1 have frontage to thoTaupo-road. Jlaunyaharuru District.: Fern hill.s and spurs on the western slopes of the M'aungu.-. haruru range, the soil, is light, about one half of Section 2 is undulating country covered with natural grasses. Section 3is good pastoral land. Section A has frontage to Taupo-road. A few dumps of bush are scattered about on Section 1. Waitara District: Open fern country, hilly. A bridle-road on the permanent grades has been formed :i distance of 12 miles through the block, starting from the Tauporoad about 3o miles from ISTapier.
