Passengers —Messrs Monteith, J. Garry, and Bear, Napier band, and about thirty other excursionists. 9—Maori, s.s., for Wairoa, with about thirty excursionists. The s.s. Maori stoamed for Wairoa shortlyafter 10 o'clock last night, taking a full cargo and thirty excursionists. The steamer Go-Ahead, Captain Doile, arrived here from Wellington at an early hour this morning, and "was berthed inside at the breastwork later on. She brought l~)<) tons of cargo for here, tlie principal part of which consisted of transhipments out of the ships Lady Jocelyn and Waitara from London. The Go-Ahead is to leave again for Wellington at G o'clock to-night. The p.s. Manaia left for Wairoa soon after 10 o'clock last night, with a large complement of excursionists for the Wairoa races, and will be returning again on Friday. The Union Steamship Company's s.s. Southern Cross arrived from Wellington last night, and was tendered this morning by the Boojiun for mails and passengers. The launch with the outward passengers for Gisborne, Tauranga, and Auckland is to leave the breastwork at -1 o'clock this afternoon, the Cross resuming her passage shortly afterward. The" steamer Sir Donald, Capt. Quinlau, returned from Fairy Bay at 10.00 o'clock last night, with 102 bales of wool, which she transhipped to the Coromandel this morning. The Union Company's launch Boojum, Captain Maloney, is announced to leave for Wairoa at 10 o'clock to-night. A ketch arrived in the roadstead this morning, which will probably prove to be the Lucy Jane from Povorty Bay, with a cargo of wool for transhipment to our homeward bound vessels. Wo may state, as some misapprehension appears to have arisen about the barque Thorne not having been brought inside, that the pilot was perfectly willing to bring her in, the decision arrived at lying entirely with her captain, who. as a considerable part of the cargo of coals would have had to be retrimmed. deemed it less expensive to stay outside.
