REVENUE RETURNS.

THE VICTORIAN LOAN. MELBOURNE. December 30. The A'ietorian revenue returns for the past quarter show that the receipts for that period amounted to £1,450,000, being an increase of £'76,250 its compared with the corresponding quarter last year. The revenue for the vcar amounted to £5,090.000, being an ncr'ease of £200,000. December 31. An analysis of the revenue returns for the December quarter shows that in comparison with the corresponding period of last year the Customs have increased by £19,000 and the railway receipts by £33,250, while the excise revenue lias decreased by £14,000, and the territorial revenue by £12,000. A comparison of the year's returns with those of 1881 shows the following increases:—ln Customs, £188,000 (of which spirits give £35,000),. and in railways £113,500. The territorial revenue has decreased during the year by £44,000. January 2. The Government has decided to fix the minimum of the loan about to be raised in London at par, and lias telegraphed to the Agent-General accordingly. The Government has undertaken not to issue a redemption loan this year at a price below par. The ship Thirdmcre, from London reports that nn the voyage she spoke the barque, Undine, bound from Cardiff to Colombo. The captain and six of the crew of the latter had been washed overboard in a heavy gale.
