MELBOURNE. December 20. At the wool sale to-day Messrs Goldsbrough and Co. (limited) catalogued 5400 bales, of which 4300 were sold. Very satisfactory prices were realised, greasy merino ranging up to I4£d, and washed ditto to 25d. December 21. An extensive fire occurred this morning at the premises of Messrs Hemmons, Laws and Co., wholesale chemists, 55 and 57 Russell-street, Melbourne. The fire raged for some time, but it has now been completely subdued. The extent of the damage is not yet conclusively knowD, but the loss is believed to be very heavy.
