December 19,

An influental meeting or citizens was held this morning to consider tbe reception of Sir Julius Vogel, who probably will be here on Friday next. It was resolved to arrange for a banquet on a day next week to be fixed by Sir Julius. It was also decided to invite Lady Vogel, and to permit other ladies to take part in the proceedings. A man named .William Taylor, a butcher at Cbristchurch, was drowned at Sumner whilst bathing yesterday.
