A moderate rainfall is now general throughout Victoria and South Australia, and it will prove of immense good to both colonies.

SYDNEY,

September 20. Exceptionally heavy storms of rain have been experienced in the southern portion of this colony. In the Richmond River district the rainfall during last night amounted to six inches. October 21. The ship Northampton, 1161 tons, bound for this port with immigrants, has struck on a reef off Port Hacking, and is now being towed into Botany Bay in a leaking state.
