We have received by the mail a copy of the provisional prospectus of the Hawke's Bay Refrigerating Company (limited). The capital is £30,000 in 6000 shares of £.5 each. The provisional board of directors in London comprises the following well-known settlers:—Messrs J. A'Deane, A. S. Birch, H. H. Bridge. J. Chambers, J. Johnston, C. Nairn, F. D. Rich, P. Russell, H. R. Russell, A. St. Hill, J. Studholme, T. Tanner, and G. M. Waterhonse. The prospectus states that " the company will erect at or near Napier, New Zealand, on land hereafter to be acquired by the company, suitable buildings for the reception of the meat and other produce intended for shipment. Such buildinga will be fitted with refrigerators of the most approved construction, in which meat and other produce will be frozen and prepared for the voyage, and the company will also provide the necessary refrigerating lighters for the transport of the meat, &c, from the stores of the company to the export vessels. It will probably be found desirable that the company should erect suitable yards and elaughter-noueea on its premises, so that the live stock intended to be refrigerated may be also slaughtered there, and the company is empowered to make arrangements for thi« purpose. Aa the company will charee a fixed rate for refrigerating, storing and shippiug the meat, the producer will have the full benefit of the fair and equal rates for the carriage of the meat which the vessel will arrange. The company will have power to fit up refrigerators on board the vessels which it may charter or arrange should load at Napier in case the directors should deem it advantageous to do so. The company will also have the power of acquiring suitable stores in London or other centres of population, and of fittiug them with refrigerators where the meat, can be received on arrival, and of accepting the consignment and sale of parcels

lof meat and other produce entrusted to it." It may be gathered from the above that the company does not intend to confine its operations to shareholders, but offers advantages to all owners of stock who desire to export frozen meat.
