HIGH CHURCHISM.

The cause of High Anglicanism is, according to its leading organ, the Morning Post, about to receive a heavy blow and sore discouragement. The extreme High Church insists, above all things, on its catholic character, and, though its pretensions have been contemptuously ignored by the greatest of all churches, we have always been given to understand that they were cordially recognised by the more tolerant and not less Orthodox Greek Church. That, we are now informed, is all a mistake. The Greek Church has been investigating the validity of Anglican orders, and has apparently found that they are worthless ; for a mission is about to be sent to this country, and an English branch of the true Orthodox Church, with its own liturgy, is to be established immediately. It is easy to understand the disappointment which the announcement will cause- to the most pronounced section of ' Anglicans, , but sympathy would be thrown away upon them. They are but experiencing the treatment meted out to dissenters of all sects in the country. The foreign church with which they have sought alliance has in turn denounced them to be dissenters. It would be well for them at this moment if they could assume the indifference of nine-tenths of their countrymen, who do not care two straws what the patriarch of Constantinople or the synod of the Greek Church chooses to say about English orders. —Pall Mall Gazette.
