PORT AHURIHI

ARRIVALS. October. 4—Kiwi, s.s., from Wellington and coastal stations. Passengers—Mesdames Beechan and Trawly, and Mr Miller.

The s.s. Kiwi, Captain Jas. Campbell, arrived here from Wellington and coastal stations at 6 o'clock on Wednesday night, and was brought inside and berthed at the breastwork the following morning, but yesterday being observed as a close holiday _he was unable to discharge her cargo until to-day. She will ship a quantity of tallow, wool, and preserved meats this afternoon fos transhipment in Wellington, and to-morrow afternoon will take her departure, the sea being too heavy for her to getaway to-night. The Union Steamship Company's s.s. Te Anau, Captain Carey, left Auckland at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon, with 70 tons of cargo for this port, and may be expected to arrive by daylight in the morning. She will be tendered for inward mails and passengers at 7 a.m. by the Boojum, those outwards being taken off at 11.30 a.m., the steamer leaving for Southern ports and Melbourne soon afterwards. The steamer Fairy, Captain John Campbell, came into the roadstead from the coast last evening, but finding the sea too heavy for her to attempt to cross the bar immediately afterwards put out to sea again, and is now probably lying under the Kidnappers. The Union Steamship Company's s.s. Southern Cross left Timaru at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, and may be expected to arrive here to-night. She will be berthed inside to-morrow morning, and at 2 p.m. she is announced to steam, for Gieborne and Auckland. The departure of the Wairoa steamers Maori and Manaia has had to be indefinitely postponed, owing to the heavy southerly sea now running in the bay. The Union Steamship Company's new «teamer Wairarapa is to leave Wellington this afternoon on her maiden trip up the coast, and is expected to arrive here tomorrow morning. Her advertised time of departure for Northern ports is 4 p.m.
