WINNING SIRES.

Traducer's stock again place that defunct stallion at the head of the list of wininng sires, though his figures do not reach as high as those of previous seasons, owing in a considerable measure to the many recent importations of foreign stock. The twentyone of his get that are mentioned in the •winning table won £5,016, to which must be added the amounts won by smaller winners among his stock, and al?o those won by other horses got by him, but whose breeding has not been given in the reports of the races. Taken altogether there is no doubt that Traducer's stock won last season £6,500, which is, however, £5,000 below his previous year's figures. His old compeer Ravensworth ranks next with £3,200, and then comes Albany with £2,278. The principal winners by the last named are : Nonsense, Hilda, and Mischief. The distinguished New South Wales sire Yattendon takes fourth place with £2,188, half of which was secured by Lady Emma. That useful horse Day Dawn has secured £2,000 ■with the aid of twelve known winners, and there is no doubt that there are plenty more of his stock that have won money, but whose parentage has not been reported at the time of running. Slanderer owes his £1,455 entirely to Grip's three victories, but Totara's creditable total of £1,380 is due to eleven of his stock. Anteros makes the good show of £1,365 by the assistance of Louie, The Poet, and Canard ; but Hippocampus is represented by only one winner —the Slander filly, who won for him £1,155. Kve of Facific's stock have secured £1,035, but there is little doubt that he has plenty more winners scattered about the North Island. St. Albans is credited with £853, won by his son Tasman ; and Dead Shot with £785, secured by Larry and St. Clair. Kelpie has a couple of winners in Maid of Honor and Kenilworth, who between them won £664. Sator won £621, ■while Castaway and Cassivelaunus come next with a little over £500 opposite each of their names.—Dnnedin Star.
