USES FOR WOMEN.
The best use to -which a woman can bo put is to be made an honest wife of some good man and the judicious mother of healthy children. Ali the art and learning that she can compass are not of so much value to the world as the example of a life passed quietly in the exercise of domestic duties and social righteousness, in the gift to the countey of children who shall carry on the national tradition of courage and generosity, of unselfishness and virtuo. — London 'Truth.' This excellent suggestion is not new, but doe 3it never occur to the London ' Truth' that if married lifo is to bo hold tip to women as her truo profession, man ought to give her tho social right of proposing marriage to tho other sex? We submit that nothing can be moaner in man than to assiiro woman kindly, calmly, and profoundly that hor true place is to be a wife, and then coolly but firmly bid her wait for that opportunity till some mancondescends to ask her. — Springfield Bcpublican.'
