Nothing but the Products of Purb Malt and Hops, brewed and fermented in a cool atmosphere, and bottled with care. I have examined the Sample of M'Ewin's Rottlbd Alb submitted to me, and find that it contains — Alcohol by weight, 640 per cent; or by volume, 6 - 55 per cent. Extractive matter, 306 per cent.; Acid matter, 0 - 17 per cent. I have also examined the Alb for such deleterious ingredients as are sometimes added to Beer, and have found no indication of their presence. The three first conditions laid down by the Committee for Wines and Berks for the late International Exhibition, as those to which especial prominence would bo given, were—lst, Low alcoholic per centage : 2nd, Freedom from acidity ; 3rd Absence of fusel oil; and all these are fulfilled in th sample. ALTHOUGH this office has been in existence for a period of more than seven years, it is believed that the objects for which it was estaWished are not sufficiently known or understood. It is desired to set forth in a concise form information respecting the business which this office undertakes: 1. Tho administration of all estates of which no disposition has been made by will, whenever relatives do not wish to incur the responsibility of administration, or cannot from any cause obtain tho necessary powers to act. In such cases it is the duty of the Public Trustee to diechargo all legal debts bo far as the assets extend, and divide the residue amongst tho next of kin. 4. The administration of the estates of lunat cs, lunatic patients, and convicts. 5. The charge of Innds lying waste and unoccupied of which the owner is unknown, or who has been absent from the colony for ten years, having left no known agent.
