SYDNEY.
December 2. The election for the seat for Carcoar in the Legislative Assembly, rendered vacant by the expulsion of Mr G. A. Baker, took place to-day, and resulted in the return of Mr G. Campbell by a majority of 150 votes over tbe late member, who was a candidate for re-election. Fresh cases of small-pox have been reported to-day, and five children in one house in WoolJoornooloo are now down with the disease. A cricket match between the English team and twenty-two of Batburst was commenced to-day. The Englishmen in their first innings scored 115, and at the close of the days play the twenty-two bird-fifteen wickete down for 43 runs.
