November 15

News has been received that the schooner Henrietta, 29 tons, of this port, owned by Mr W. J. Pashley, has foundered while on her voyage to New Caledonia, and that ten persons have lost their lives by the disaster. It has been ascertained that the Henrietta was overloaded when she left port. It is expected that the Government will shortly commence legal proceedings in connection with the expenditure of

the award to the Milburn Creek Copper Mining Company. November 16. The Treasurer delivered his financial statement in the Legislative Assembly last night, which showed that the revenue last year amounted to £0,348,000, and the expenditure to £5,157.000. He estimates the revenue for the present year at £6 241,000, and the expenditure at £5,961,000. No increase of taxation or of Customs duties is proposed.
