NEW PLYMOUTH.
November 15. Te Whiti and Tohu were brought up at the R.M. Court again yesterday morning at 10.30, when Mr Hursthouse was further examined, after which Te Whiti asked the witness if the 2500 acres reserved for the natives bad been shown to them. Mr Hursthouse answered: Not that I know of. Mr Hursthouse was then examined as a witness against Tohu, the evidence being similar to that given against Te Whiti. At the conclusion of the proceedings at the Court yesterday a number of gentlemen gathered round Te Whiti and Tohu, and entered into conversation with them. In reply to questions Te Whiti and Tcbu said they had nothing to complain of regarding their confinement, except that they were not allowed to i smoke. The Resident Magistrate and a j visiting justice visited the gaol, and got several of the prison rules relaxed in favor of the political prisoners. During the whole of the proceedings yesterday Te Whiti and Tohu were impi'essed with the dignity of the Court, Te Whiti especially paying particular attention to the manner the witnesses were sworn, and the method adopted of examining all the witnesses.
