Mr Frank Davis, part proprietor of the Guardian, died this morning at 3.30, after a lingering illness of nine months. The action of tbe Government re Te Whiti is generally endorsed, and Mr Bryce's accession to the Ministry is hailed with satisfaction. In case of a fracas at Parihaka, it is feared that tbe Bast Coast may be troubled, and it is said that before the Government fire a rifle on the West Coast this district should be protected. The Lydia Howarde troupe played on Monday and Tuesday nights to moderate houses.
The Council could not get a quorum last uight, and the meeting was postponed sine die.
