THE SHOW TROUT.
[To the Editor of the Daily Telegraph.] Sir,—What has become of the show trout that were exhibited at the late argicultural show ? It was understood at the last meeting of the Acclimatisation Society that these fish were not to be returned to the ponds, but were to be " destroyed." I think the word destroyed" was madeuseof by the secretary, but, perhaps, eaten would have more nearly indicated their ultimate destination. But members of tbe society would like to know who ate those trout ? Did they fall to the Jot of the secretary and chairman, or did the curator of the ponda have tbe dainty dish ? I would ask, however, why were not the fish sold by auction at the show ? They would have fetched a good price, and the money, if it was not given to the poor, might have cone towards preserving the young trout from the depredations of rata.—•! am, & c -. , -_- Isaac Walton.
