HAWKE'S BAY AGRICULTURAL SHOW.

[TO THE EdITOB OF THE DAILY TeLEGBAPIi.] Sir, —Can you or any of your readers inform me why the undermentioned thoroughbreds were not paraded at the late agricultural show, namely,—Ormond, by Statesman out of Polly Tician; Sutton, by British Workman out of Industry ; Buchanan, by Stubborn Boy out of Contrary; Russell, by Long Stride out of Pi? Tail; Smith, by Lord Henry out of Waipukurau. Sir, had the above cracks been paraded it is my opinion the first three would have taken prizes, for they are the best political sires in Hawke's Bay, and if they are properly looked after on the day of the races I shall expect to see them first in the following events :—For the Napier Cup, Buchanan : Hawke's Bay Plate, Sutton ; Waipawa Handicap, Ormond. By the bye, I hear that the Earl of Clive has backed Sutton against Russell for a large amount, whilst the Marquis of Hastings has declared Russell to win ; but if I can reach my bottom dollar I shall put it on the old horse ; he is in a good stable, and is being trained by Mr Workingman, who is considered to be the best trainer in New Zealand.—l am, &c,

Tim O'Connor.
