NOTICE is hereby given that the following Byelaws have been passed by the County Council of Hawke's Bay, this 10th day of September, 1881; And notice is hereby g'ven that a meeting of the Council will be held on MONDAY, the 17th October, 1881, for the purpose of a.itflrming the said resolution, F. A Bye-Law to further regulate the Licensing and Management of Slaughter Houses and Abbatoirs, and the inspection therdof, and of cattle intended for slaughter in the County of Hawke's Bay. In pursuance of "The Counties Act, 1876,'' and "The Slaughter Houses Act, 1877," the County Council of Hawke's Bay do order as follows, that is to say— 1. Interpretation—Section number 1 of Bye-law No. 4 shall be deemed to apply to all bye-laws and regulations under "The Slaughter Houses Act, 1877," 2. It shall be deemed to be a condition upon which any Licence to keep a Slaughter-house is issued, that the holder thereof shall keep a book wherein shall be entered the full names of all servants from time to time employed in such licensed Slaughter-house, and the entry of each servants' name shall be signed by such servant; such book shall be produced to the Inspector upon demand.—lf any such holder shall enter into the said book the name of any person not bona fide hia servant, or omit to enter therein the name of any servant or shall permit any person not bona fide his servant, to slaughter in his Licensed Slaughter-house he Bhall forfeit and pay for each offence aDy sum not exceeding £5. 3. No cattle shall be slaughtered on Sundays in any A bbattoir, except during the hours of 5 p.m. and 10 p.m On all other dayß every Abbatoir shall be kept open during the hours hereinafter specified for the slaughtering of cattle therein, and for skinning and dressing the carcases of the cattle so slaughtered, such hours shall be from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. 4. no portion of any animal shall be delivered or removed from any abbatoir after 10 o'clock p,m. 5. No cattle to be left in the yards longer than 48 hours. 6 Pigs taken for slaughter shall not remain longer than 48 hours in sty prepared for them. No pigs intended to be killed will be permitted to be ft d in the sty, yard, or precincts of the slaughter-yard. 7, No hides are to be removed before inspect ion which inspection must be done 24 hours from slaughtering unless the Inspector shall deem it advisable for the proper carrying out of " The Slaughter House Act, 1877,' that the hide or hides should remain on the premises for such further period as to him may seem fit. 8. Whoever Bhall wilfully destroy or damage any of the property appertaining to the Slaughter-yard, house, or premises, shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding £5 over and above the amount of damage done 8. Any person who shall violate or fail to obsei ye any rule's, matters, or things laid down in these byelaws, or shall do that which he is not entitied or allowed to do under the authority of these byj-laws shall be deemed guilty of an offence, and for each such offence shall forfeit and pay any sum not exceeding Five pounds. Monteith The primary object of tho Company is to procure within the town of Napier, a Recreation Ground upon which the town residents and others can take paTt in such popular Athletic Sports as Cricket, Football, Caledonian Games, etc, without the great expense and inconvenience attendant upon travelling to Buch a distance as they are at present compelled to do. To effect that desirable object the Company propose to Lease the Napier Town Hall Reserve, or some other suitable ground, and to make such improvements as will be considered necessary. The Income of the Company will be derivable from the rents acciuing from the various Athletic Clubs, Friendly Societies, or others requiring the use of the Ground for Sports, Fetes, etc., and it is estim--1 ated that extremely moderate charges for such pur- ■ poses will amount to sufficient to carry on the business of the Company and leave a balance to be devoted to further improvements and ornamentation of the Grounds, as the Shareholders deem advisable. Such a Ground is much required and will be an ornament and convenience to the town, and the \ iacilities afforded for Athletic excerciso cannot fail < I to bo greatly conducive to health, and also the . means of saving considerable expense and inconvenience to the members of the various Clubs and Friendly Societies, who incur heavy travelling expenses in proceeding to hold their festivities and games at a distance from town.
