Mr Gillies will exhibit a number of hia ingenious model machines at the agricultural show next week. The exhibits will include threshing engines and boilers, beam engines, &c, all going by steam. These models have never been exhibited in Hawke's Bay before, and as they evidence great ingenuity and careful workmanship, they will doubtles be an interesting' addition to the show.

Poverty Bay is not at all satisfied with Mr McDonald as its representative. It is not well (says the Gisborne Herald) for a representative to eet himself in direct opposition to a Ministry unless he is strong in his own powers and has a certain following. A letter from Dr. Menzies, which was read at the previous meeting of the Committee, was considered, and it was deoided that Dr. Menzies' attention be drawn to the bye-laws, and to his duties &3 set forth in them. A motion by Mr Cotterill, that all patients admitted should be required to sign a paper stating whether they entered as paying" or pauper patients, was carried. At the Theatre Eoyal last night the production of " Kobirison Crusoe " was riot attended with milch suri'cess. The sittetidaiioe was smalt, and this appeared to affect the company, who were at fault at times, and did not carry the pieoe through in their usual efficient manner. The Crusoe of Miss Lvdia Howarde is well-known in Napier. Miss Howarde dresses to perfection, and acts the part with a " go" and success we have never seen surpassed. As the pirate, Miss Nye was of course admirable, both her acting and vocalisation being excellent. Mr Wisher ■, ac the reduced friend of Crusoe, displayed considerable humour, and sang several good comic songs with great effect. As the ihtelligferit nigger,, who "has a knowledge of th§se things)" Mr £cswer was inimitable, his genuine fun, especially in the trial scene, creating continued laughter. Mdlle. Glorian made a charming Lenora, and Miss Maude Vincent acted with care and vigor. A number of well-known and popular airs were rendered by the oompany in capital style, and received due applause. The performance concluded with " The Water* men." To-night " Robinson Crusoe " will be repeated, and the performance will conclude with a slight comedy.

Messrs H. Monteith and Co "will sell on Monday, at Hastings, -well-bred heifers and young cows, at 1 p.m. Messrs Miller and Potts will sell on Monday, at Papakura, shi-ep, horses, agricultural implements, &c, at noon. ■ Tenders for erecting a house at East Clivo must be sent in by Monday next.

The Bank of New Zealand will close on Monday, the 17th, instant, the anniversary of the opening of the bank. Messrs Kennedy and GHllman will sell on Monday, oranges, lemons, apples, &o at 2 p.m.

Several alterations in the Friendly Society's fete programme for the Prince of Wales' birthday are advertised. The Heretaunga Road Board has a rate notice to property holders in that district. Mr Cassin has an important trade notice. Mr C. fi>. Taylor's boot and shoe warehouse, Hastings, has a large stock to choose from.

Mr J. A. Rearden will shortly have accommodation for two pupil boardere at the Meanee College. A black tan and white collie dog is lost.

Mr Koutledge will sell by auction shortly the premises of Messrs Wardrop and Co., Spit. Mr M. B. Miller has for sale a sevenroomed house and half-acre land.

Messrs Fortune and Black will sell small goods of every description at the Hastings races and show.

Mr Ashton will cater for the public at the grand stand bar during the race and show days.

Messrs Price and Innes announce some very cheap lines which they offer the public. Mr W. E. Woods has opened a chemist's and druggist's shop in Hastings-street, and solicits patronage.

Messrs Hoadley and Lyon make important additions to their stook sale advertisement.

Tenders are invited by the Town Clerk for the lease of the Town Hall reserve in one block.

All the solicitor's offices in Napier ■will be closed on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday next.
