NEW SOUTH WALES.
Sydney, September 8
The second heat for the Walker whisky trophy was contested on the Parramata river yesterday. The first division, Rush, Power, and Pearce, started from Gladesville wharf to Charity Point, and the race was won easily by Pearce, Power a good second. Rush collapsed some distance from the winning point. The secoud division, Laycock, Edwards, and Trickett, sculled from Charity Point to Gladesville Laycock won with a good lead, Edwards second. In this instance Trickett gave up a short distance from Gladesville. The rain, which threatened the day's sport, cleared previous to the race, and although preventing a large muster of spectators from attending it did not affect the race.
Mr Mcllhone has apologised for the intemperate language used by him during the discussion on the Ringbarking Bill in the Assembly on Thursday. He explained that he never intended to say he would assist in shooting the squatters, but had been too far carried away by his temper and the excitement.
