THE FRASERTOWN SCHOOL DISPUTE.
[To t&e Editoe of the Daily Telegbap-.I Sih, —At the last meeting of the Education Board, held on the 16th August, Mr Tanner is reported to have said that the Frasertown school committee, having thanked Mr Harding for the action he took regarding the dismissal of the teacher, it was to be presumed that the committee were perfectly satisfied. I would like to inform Mr Tanner that Mr Harding was thanked for moving that the correspondence forwarded by our chairman (Mr J. Couper), without the knowledge of the committee, be not received, and afterward? obtaining three months notice for the teacher instead ot summary dismissal, as proposed by Mr Tanner. I may here mention tbat the committee, in passing the vote of thanks to Mr Harding, took as their authority the printed report of the proceedings of the board, so that it is quite evident that either tbe report in question or the report in which Mr Tanner places the committee in the absurd position of thanking Mr Harding for moving the dismissal of the teacher is incorrect. I am justified in believing the first report to be correct, as lam in receipt of a letter dated July 23, 1881, from the inspector and secretary to the board, in which he states that "on tbe motion of Mr Tanner it was decided that the Bchoolm.ster (Mr J. J. Taylor) receive three months notice." I feel sorry that Mr Tanner should have so flatly contradicted himself, but perhaps his remarks are like the inspectors'a printed report " one line out of place," and then not right after all.—l am, &c,
C. GrRAI", Secretary Frasertown School Committee. Frasertown, September 1, 1881.
