LONDON.
August 25. The international wool exhibition awards consist of gold, silver, and bronze medals for the first, second, and third clases respectively. It is announced that, in addition to a silver medal, Sir Samuel iVilson also takes a gold medal for washed cross-breds and combing wool. A grand review of volunteers toolplace to-day at Edinburgh before the Queen. Over 40,000 men were under arms, and the affair was most successful. Both Houses of Parliament adjourned to day until Saturday next, when tbe prorogation will take place. Heavy rain continues to tall throughout England, which is causing severe damage by floods. It is moreover proving most disastrous to harvest operations. Further large withdrawals of gold for North America were made at the Bank of England to-day. At the wool auction to-day 9200 bales were catalogued. There was a fair demand. The withdrawals to date amount to 2000 bales. Cross-breds generally are _d to Id lower than at last sales. August 26. The following additional award has been made by the judges at the international wool show at tbe Crystal Palace: ~S!lver medal to Mr Pitts, of Maidstone, for raw wool.
