WHEREAS certain public works, that is to say, the construction of a portion of the Welling-ton-Napier Railway (Napier Workshops) have been authorised, and the land for the same taken by proclamation. Now, I, John Hall, the Minister Acting for the Minister for Public Works, do hereby publicly notify that I appoint the Public Works Office, at Kopua, to be the office at which persons claiming compemation for land taken for, or otherwise affected by, the said public works shall serve their claims, pursuant to " The; Public Works Act, 1570," and Acts amending the same. I, the undersigned, hereby give notice that I have appointed the Office of the Town Clerk, Napier, as the place, and THURSDAY, the FIRST day of September, 1881, as the day for the Nomination of Candidates for the Office of Councillor for each of the three Wards; and also give notice, that any burgesses of either of the Wards, des'rous of Nominating a Candidate, must, before Noon ot the said FIRST day of September, c_U3e to be addressed to me and delivered at the said Office of the Town Clerk, a Nomination paper in the prescribed form, stating the Christian Fame and Surname of such Candidate, and each such Nomination Paper must be signed by two Electors of the Ward of the Borough for which such Candidate is nominated, and by the Candidate himself in token of his assent to such Nomination.
