The following, as contained in the Publio Works Statement, are the proposals for roads and railways in Hawke's Bay : —A road of five miles to open the Puketitiri block of 1100 acres, thirty miles distant from Napier, containing 300 acres of bush and 800 acres of pastoral land ; road to open the Rotokakainga block on the Mohaka river, area 16,500 acres ; extension of roads in Seventy-mile Bush to open the Puketoi block and other forest lands in the Tahoraite, Ngamoko, and Ahuaturanga blocks ; road in Tautane bush, to open 59,000 acres known as the quarantine reserve. The railways works towards Tahoraite on the northern division will be carried on, and for completing the outstanding contracts and esgagements of the southern division a considerable sum will be required.

The Premier last night informed the House that several reports had been circulated that the Government had something to do with the non-arrival of the flying squadron in New Zealand. Mr Hall distinctly denies it, and stated that he believes the cause of the squadron not coming here might be attributed to the accident which happened to tho Bacchante, and also to the serious illness of Earl Clanwilliam. The Premier tabled the telegramg A

and copies of telegrams that passed between the Governor and Farl Clanwilliam.
