A BULL IN A BARBER'S SHOP

No «*rnall commotion was caused the other day in Leith Walk, Edinburgh, by the doiiigs of a bull which broke loose from its keepers, who were leading it from the adjacent railway station. The creature gave chase to the first persons it saw, who happened to be a young man and a young woman. Both fled for refuge into a barber's shop, which tho young woman reached first, «nd in , which she hid herself in a recess behind the door. The young man fled through the shop behind a partition which divided the shop from the shaving and haircutting room ; but the bull saw him and dashed through the Bhop full butt against the partition, which it smashed, together with a glass case. The fugitives rushed out again, the man jumping over the counter ; but a lad in the shop was less fortunate, and was tossed by the bull. He fell on its back, however, and was not much hurt, so that he managed to slip out while the bull was turning round in its narrow quarters. The bea.«t now wreaked its vengeance on the shop, in which it demolished everything except a large mirror, in which it saw itself reflected. As the result of a hurried council of war it was resolved to shoot the bull, and the proprietor of a neighbouring shootingbooth was.asked to do the deed. He fired two or three shots, through the window, but missed each time, whereupon his wife, who is described as being " a perfect adept in firearms," seized the rifle and killed the bull with h*?r first shot.
