INVERCARGILL.
August 5. A young man named Scott, aged 22, employed on the Invercargill and fiivertoa railway, while out shooting a few days ngo, had his thumb blown off, the contents of the charge and part of the thumb bone lodging in his shoulder. He lingered till yesterday, when he died, mortification having set in.
