LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.

Thursday. The Council met at 2.30 p.m. BIBLE BEADING IK SCHOOLS. Dr Menzies moved the second reading of the Education Act Amendment Bill, the amendment being to allow Bible reading in the public schools. Mr Whitaker moved the previous question. After a short debate the second reading was carried by 18 to 12. BILLS. The Waitara Harbor Board Loan Bill was read a second time by 15 to 13. The Medical Practitioners' Society Bill was read a second time on a division by 20 to 6. The Council rose at 5 o'clock.
