TARADALE DISTRICT BOARD OF RIVER CONSERVATORS.
A meeting of the above Board was held in the Taradale hotel on Thursday afternoon. Messrs Condie (chairman), Rymer, r>. Keagle, and A. McDonald were present Correspondence was received from the Surveyor-General relative to a plan of land conserved from encroachment of the river Tutaekuri prepared for the Board by Mr James Rochfort. The Board is informed that the land cannot be vested in the conservators until special legislation has been made regarding it, and it further states that "all persons who have gone over the road line, which is the boundary of the Crown grants, are trespassers. It is proposed to take the necessary power to enable the Goveanor to grant the land in a special bill dealing; with other land matters in Hawke's Bay. The secretary was instructed to write to the Surveyor - Generl to get the plan returned, as the Board roquired to use it. Mr George Rjmer was instructed, as a member of the Meanee Highway Board, to invite their co-operation in getting a reliable plan drawn out of the Meanee and Taradale districts for the more correct taxing of tbose districts by both bodies. After the passing of accounts, etc., the Board adjourned to the river to decide on some further protection work?, planting, and repairs to fences. It was found that, although the river was cutting into the bank adjoining Mr Murphy's property a large amount of deposit had been left among the osiers and willows so thickly planted last year. This was considered encouraging to plant as far as they can each year. Mr Macdonald reported that Mr 11. S. Tiffen, before leaving, had placed in his bands an ample sum for the use of the Board should occasion require free of interest,
