MEANEE ROAD BOARD.
The annual meeting of the Meanee Highway Board was held in the Mission school-house, Meanee, on Saturday last. Mr G. Rytner occupied the chair. A report of the work done in the district during the past year was read ; also a financial statement showing a balance to the credit of the board of £7 5s 9d. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Mr Rytner, as chairman of the late board, then retired, and Mr Thomas Jeftares was elected chairman of the meeting. The nomination of a new board was then proceeded with, and the following gentlemen were elected to form the new board :—Messrs G. Kymer, E. Davis, H. Sladen, T. Jeffares, and the Rev, Father Regiaer,
On the recommendation of Mr Rymer, supported by Mr Sladen, it was resolved that a sixpenny rate be struck. Mr Rymer .reported in reference to the stoppage of the road from the Meanee into the new Taradale-road, that he had given Mr Frame a note of hand for £26, to be paid put of the next year's fates, to relinquish all claim to the piece of ground taken by the board for a public road. This action was unanimously endorsed by the board. Messrs W. Anderson and F. S. Anderson were then elected auditors. The meeting expressed satisfaction at the manner in which the late board had conducted the work intrusted to them. On the motion of Mr Rymer a cordial Vote of thanks was accorded to the Rsv. Father Regnier and Mr Rearden for the use of the Mission schoolroom, which had so often been placed at their disposal. The meeting then terminated. At a meeting of the new wardens held afterwards, Mr Rymer was unanimously elected chairman for the year. It was also resolved that the next meeting of the' board be held at Mr M'Cattney's hotel, Taradalej on the 29th instant, for the purpose of striking a sixpenny rate.
