WELLINGTON.
July 18. At the Magistrate's Court this morning John Simpson, keeper on the hullon board which the boiler exploded, was committed for trial on the charge that he did knowingly and wilfully fasten down the safety valve of. the boiler. Bail was
allowed, himself in £100, and two sureties of £50 each. The mail steamer Australia, with the London mails of the 16th ultimo, left San Francisco for Auckland on Sunday, the 3rd instant, one day later than the time-table date. The s.s. City of New York, with the June colonial mails, arrived at San Francisco on the 14th instant, the time-table date.
