BRISBANE.
Julyl. The Queensland Parliament has been opened by the Governor. His Excellency, in his speech on the occasion, announced that the Government had failed to come to an agreement with the English company for the construction of the transcontinental railway, but it was hoped the Government will be able to introduce a bill for the purpose during the session. Measures would also be introduced to give effect to the recommendations of the intercolonial conference. The report of the steel rails commission would be laid on the table, and would be found to decisively and comprehensively absolve the Premier from the charges made against him.
