LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.
The' Chinese Immigrants Bill passed through committee. An amendment moved by Dr Pollen, that the Act should not come into operation until the Chinese in the colony numbered 2 per cent, to the European population, was negatived by 14 to 7. The bill was then reported without amendment, read a third time, and passed. BANKS AND BANKERS BILL. The Banks and Bankers Act Amendment Bill was read a second time. GAMING- AND LOTTERIES BILL. The Gaming and Lotteries Bill was partly considered in committee. The Council adjourned at 4.50.
