ASHBURTON.
June 25,
A fire broke out last night at nine o'clock at the shop of Ruxton, tailor, nuxt door to Quill's hotel, and in half-an-hour the shop and premises were consumed. The house belonged to Quill, aad was valued at £300. It was insured for about half that arnouut. The stock and furniture were insured for £430. The cause of the fire is unknown.
Mr Joseph Ivess, the well-known newspaper proprietor, start in business here as auctioneer on the Ist July.
Yesterday Peace's chicory manufactory commenced business.
