Earl Duff«rin, who recently arrived here to fill the post of British Ambassador in succession to the Right Hon. J. G. Goshen, had an audience to-day of the Sultan. His Majesty, in tbe course of his interview, made most coidial reference to the ancient friendships between England and Turkey, and expressed a hope that the same would continue.
