F. D. LUCKIE, Secretary. CHURCH OF S. FAITH, LAKE ROTORUA. EO TE WHARE 0 TE WHAKAPONO TAPU. THE REV. IHAIATE AHU (who has stefastly labored amidst many discouragements n.9 an ordaic3d Clergyman of the Church of England since 1860 amongst his countrymen, the loyal tribe of the A-awa) is very desirous of erecting a Church at Ohinemutu, where he now resides. He feels the great want of a suitable building in which the j :ople may assemble for public worship, and ho believes that the erection of a Church will conduce to the restoration of that decent observance of the Lord's Day and of other ordinances of religion, which has of late ye'jrs fallen into too much neglect. For this sad state of things the natives are not alone to blame. And now that an effort is being made amongst themselves to check drunkenness and other flagrant vices, and to return to the Faith, there is every reason that they should be encouraged and assisted in this much needed reformation. I would therefore very earnestly appeal to the English residents, and to the many visitor/ and tourists who for pleasure or health frequent these beautiful lakes, to contribute towards the building of a commodiov , : and suitable Church, such as •w.ll be an ornament to the new township. Tae Maoris will give a site in a commanding position on the shores of the lake, and as the building will be available for English services as well as Maori, it y .11 be of benefit to the whole community Subscriptions will be thrnkfully received by the Rev.
