Garrard, the labor agitator, delivered a harangue yesterday on the Chinese and the labor question. There was not a large audience.
Mr Robert Field Porter, formerly Under-Secretary in the Colonial Treasury Department, is dead, aged 68. He retired many years ago on a pension. A private cablegram received from Sydney states that Archbishop's Stein's health is greatly improved. Shepherd, of Whatawhata, has been arrested on a charge of perjury in connection with the recent prosecution against him for the ill-treatment of two children.
