SYDNEY.

May 12. A serious fire occurred here to-day in premises occupied by J. J. Curran, wholesale grocer b'GO George-street, resulting in the partial destruction of the building. The stock was also much damaged by fire and water. The insurances on the building and stock amount to £12,000 including £400 in the New Zealand Insurance office, which will fully cover the loss.

Another large fire occurred to-day in the Haymarket causing the total destruction of a store occupied by Harris

and Co., general produce merchants. The stock and buildings were insured for £2,000 in the National Company of New Zealand.
