NEW PLYMOUTH.
May 9. In the Supreme Court the case of Wilkinson, charged with embezzling Government money at Hawera, occupied the whole of Saturday, About 9 o'clock at night the jury retired, and at 11 o'clock intimated that they were not likely to agree. Judge Richmond said he would return to Court at 12 o'clock -when he would consider whether he would lock them up till Monday morning. At 12 o'clock, there being still no sign of agreeing, the Judge dismissed the jury. The same charge will again come on this morning. New Plymouth is the centre of attraction just now. Simonßen's opera company opens to-night for a season of six nights, and Professor Haselmayer is here and played to a good house on Saturday night.
