Serious floods have occurred at Seville,
and many houses in the city have given way before the force of the water. All the valley in the country beyond seems £n immense lake, and the tops of trees, churches, and roofs, just appear above the water, which sweeps along cattle, " J ' : crops, and is a river five miles broad
before it outers Seville. The water is ' rushing over gardens, quays, and entering St. Elmo Palace. On the sth the Minister of Public Works left for the scene with eight government engineers. The King has placed his private purse at the disposal of the authorities to relieve the sufferers. The estimated losses are about 1,000,000 dollars.
