From the members of the Bush Mills Small Farm Settlement (petition), praying that the residential clause may be so far relaxed as not to be compulsory. It was decided, as the Legislature has affirmed the principle of relieving the settlers in Heretaunga block from compulsory regideuce, and the Government purposes endeavoring to obtain legislative authority to extend the privilege to other Associations, to recommend that tne ,concession should be granted to the 'members of the Bush Mills Association.

The Board, considering the ?rea at present reserved to be ample, cannot recommend the application to be granted. It was decided that Mr Newdick should be allowed to pay the balance of the purchase money. The Chairman reported that the following persons were in arrears with their instalments, due on land held by them on deferred payments, viz.: C. Belshaw and H. Glasson.—lt was decided that notice should be sent requiring payment within twenty-eight days, or that the land will be declared forfeited. TCA TUA BLOCK. It being pointed out that probably the sale of section 6, block VI., may be prejudicial to the public interest, it was decided that, should the resident engineer report to that effect, the Commissioner of Crown Lands is hereby authorised to withdraw the land from sale on the 11th proximo. FUKETITIRI BUSH. It was resolved that the Hon. the Minister of Lands should be requested to replace on the estimates the sum of £520 for the purpose of opening up the Puketitiri busb, and giving access to 8000 acres of 'pastoral land in the locality. The timber from this bush is much required by ; settlers in the vicinity, but being at present inaccessible the Board strongly recommends that the efforts of the County Council and Road Board to open up this district should be assisted by the Government in performing that portion of the work which would connect it with the roads made by local bodies, and which it is believed would lead to the sale of a considerable portion of bush land, and provide employment for many bushmen. tutae-o-mahu block. With regard to the resolutions of the 31st December, deciding that a portion of the Tutae-o-mahu block should be surveyed and offered for sale in half-acre allotments, and the chief surveyor having now put in a map shewing the subdivisions, it' was resolved that, subject to the approval of the Governor, allotments Nos. 23 to 52 inclusive should tbe offered for sale by auction at £10 each section. I The Board then adjourned.
