FIRE BRIGADES COMPETITION.
The following events in the above competition took place after our last issue had been sent to pres,:— THIRD EVENT. Four Men Drill.—Each manual engine to be put in working order, laying off two 50 feet lengths of canvas hose from each side. First prize, value ten guineas, presented by the Licensed Victuallers' Association; second prize, four sets of gold studs, presented by Mr S. E. Cooper, with £4 added by the committee. Hose and Ladder.—Five men to run one hundred yards to fire-plug, dragging hose-reel; connect to plug, and lay off one hundred feet of hose ; erect ladder to platform, send up hose and branch and show water. First prize, silver cup, with five guineas added, presented by Mr R. Barrows, and £2 5s added by the committee ; second prize, silver cup presented by Mr H. H. Wall, with £5 added by the committee.
